Muffin Tin Garlic Knots | Classic garlic knots...baked in a muffin tin! (1) I love garlic. Seriously. It’s one of my favorite ingredients to cook with. I often add a bit of minced garlic in the pan whenever I’m sauteing onions for soups, tacos, you name it. I find that it adds a nice depth of flavor to a finished dish. You don’t need to overload the pan with garlic either. I mean, you can overload the pan. Especially if you are afraid a vampire might be watching you. But just a little bit of garlic goes a long way.

Sure, professional chefs can dice up a garlic clove in like 2.3 seconds flat. But I’m not a professional chef. Sure, there are plenty of garlic choppers and mincers out there that make the job easier. But I hate kitchen unitaskers. My kitchen cabinets and drawers are already full, so I’m sure as heck not giving up valuable space for a rolling garlic chopper. Nope. Instead I just buy pre-minced garlic. (Plus, I don’t want to have to clean some little tool full of sharp blades. Call me crazy and all…)

(3)My friends know that I spend a lot of time in the kitchen, and every once in a while someone will ask what my favorite kitchen hack is. Easy. Pre-minced garlic. It’s my #1 kitchen hack. When I first started to learn my way around the kitchen, I used a lot of baking mixes and even some of those pre-made dinner kits. But over time, I’ve slowly migrated to making more and more from scratch. I just enjoy baking/cooking from scratch. But I don’t enjoy mincing garlic. Call it a weakness. Call me lazy. I prefer to think of myself as working ‘smarter not harder’!

(4)So while I usually just use garlic as a way to build flavors in a recipe, garlic takes center stage in these Muffin Tin Garlic Knots. I mean what’s not to love about a buttery, garlic-y, pull-apart roll? Not to mention the Italian herbs and salt that goes on top, too? But consider yourself warned: once you smell these Muffin Tin Garlic Knots, you won’t be able to resist snacking on one or six.

Muffin Tin Garlic Knots | Classic garlic knots...baked in a muffin tin! (5)And these Muffin Tin Garlic Knots are actually quite easy to make. As you can guess by the name, they get baked in a muffin tin…nice and easy there. They’re essentially just pizza dough transformed into knots. I love making my own pizza dough, but feel free to grab a batch of dough from the store or perhaps even your local pizzeria. (Bonus kitchen hack: Local pizza shops will sometimes sell batches of their dough. Call and check!)

These Muffin Tin Garlic Knots would be a huge hit while watching football games. I speak from experience here. Enjoy!

Instructions

  • Spray muffin tin with nonstick spray; set aside.

  • Divide the pizza dough into 12 equal pieces (~2 oz. each).

  • Cut each piece of dough into 5 pieces. Using a circular motion, roll each piece of dough between countertop and palm of your hand until dough ball becomes tight. Place 5 balls of dough into each muffin cup. Brush tops of dough with olive oil.

  • Cover pan and place in a warm location for 1 hour, or until dough has risen ~1” over top of pan. (Tip: For a warm location, I put the pan in my oven with just the oven light on.)

  • Once dough has risen, bake at 350°F for 28-30 minutes, or until tops of garlic bread are lightly browned.

  • While garlic bread is baking, melt the butter and stir in the Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, Italian seasoning and kosher salt.

  • Remove garlic bread from oven and brush with the garlic butter mixture. Serve hot.
